Bridging the World of Women
Our delegation of 38 women recently returned from Morocco from the Center’s International Women’s delegation. Join us Thursday, January 21, 2010, to hear from a panel of delegates who will talk about what we learned from and explored with our Moroccan counterparts. The delegation participated in numerous fascinating joint discussions with our Moroccan colleagues, and the key delegates from each meeting will share our discussions, insights, and outcomes of these meetings. Some of the topics include:

Women and Islam, led by Delegate Diana Pearce, Senior Lecturer on the faculty of the School of Social Work at the University of Washington, and Director of the Center for Women’s Welfare

Women entrepreneurs in urban and rural Morocco, and our joint symposium with the Moroccan Association des Femmes Chefs d'Enterprise (AFEM), led by Delegate Maryel Duzan, who has taught entrepreneurship at the University of Washington Bothell Business School to undergraduates and MBAs

Moroccan women in the political arena, led by Delegate Connie Niva, Washington State University Regent and retired in Everettt Port Commissioner.

The tremendous illiteracy problems faced by Moroccan women, led by Delegate Kate Brayko, a literacy teacher educator and researcher at the University of Washington

Healthcare issues, led by Delegate Dr. Denise Kraft, president of Eastside Family Medicine Clinic, and Chairman of the Department of Family medicine at Overlake Hospital.
- Women in Technology, led by Delegates Sri Remala, manager of in Accenture’s Global User Experience consulting practice specializing in user research and user centered design processes, and Seattle Works board member, and Heather Hansen, contract lobbyist and Executive Director of Washington Friends of Farms & Forests, and member of William D. Ruckelshaus Center for public policy Advisory Board.
